Biography

Mr. Myers concentrates his practice on business valuation services. In addition to being a CPA, he also holds the designation of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He also holds the designation of Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) with the American Society of Appraisers, Certified Business Appraiser (CBA) with the Institute of Business Appraisers, Inc. and Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Kurt is licensed as a CPA in Tennessee and Kentucky.

With over 28 years of public accounting experience, Kurt has been involved in over 900 appraisals of various types of closely held businesses since 1994. Appraisal clients include businesses in industries such as health care, entertainment, manufacturing, wholesale and retail distributors, and service industry businesses. Appraisal services have been performed for the following types of engagements:

- Divorce Litigation - Marital Property Settlement
- Estate Planning and Estate Tax Documentation
- Gift Tax Substantiation
- Succession Planning

Kurt attended Belmont University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in accountancy. He served as a staff auditor for the State of Tennessee, Comptroller of the Treasury, and Division of State Audit and in 1988 joined Carter, Young, Lankford, & Roach, P.C. He joined Horne CPA Group in 2001 when it merged with Carter, Young, Lankford, and Roach, P.C. In October 2004, he started his own accounting and valuation firm - Myers Valuation Associates, PLLC.

Kurt's literary accomplishments include instructor for the AICPA Certificate of Educational Achievement Program, and conducting an AICPA course entitled "Health Care Industry and Medical Practice Valuations". He is a contributing author to CPA's Guide to Medical Dental and Other Healthcare Practices, published by the AICPA. His articles have been featured in the Nashville Business Journal, the Tennessee CPA and Granite State CPA, the Nashville Medical News, the Dallas Medical News, Bed Times Magazine and Aqua Magazine. He has also spoken for the Tennessee Society of CPA's at their annual Valuation and Litigation Support Conference and their Nashville local chapter meetings, for the CPA Health Care Advisors Association at their semi-annual conference, and for the Tennessee Association for Justice at their 2011 and 2009 Domestic Law Forum.

Kurt's professional affiliations include the AICPA, where he has served as Editorial Advisor for the Journal of Accountancy as well as membership on its National Business Valuation Conference Virtual Planning Committee. A member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, Kurt has served on the Health Care Conference Committee, as Chairman of the Business Valuation, Litigation, and Forensic Accounting Conference Committee, Chairman of the Accounting Careers Committee, and Chairman of the Editorial Committee responsible for the publication of the Tennessee CPA. He is also a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA), a member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), past President of the local chapter of the ASA, and a member of the Estate Planning Council of Middle Tennessee. Kurt is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Davidson Academy in Nashville, Tennessee.
