Biography

Charles Butts currently serves as a family service worker for the Department of Children’s Services, where he has been employed for nearly 13 years.  Mr. Butts advocates for children in the Mid-Cumberland Region in the areas of Special Immigration Juvenile Status and Division of Intellectual Developmental Disabilities Services.  He works daily to ensure that permanent options are explored for youth identified with Developmental challenges and help to identify children appropriate for SIJS (Special Immigrant Juvenile Status). 

Adjunct Professor at Austin Peay State University in the field of Public Management from 1999 to Present. 

Special Educator at North Drive Elementary, Hopkinsville Kentucky, from 1995 to 2001 working with children’s with special needs. 

Retired from Military Service in 1995 after serving 22 years in the in the United States Army.  Served in various positions and stationed at duty stations such as Germany, Fort Stewart Georgia, Hawaii, Fort Riley, Fort Campbell Kentucky, and served as Branch Assistance Team Chief Enlisted Advisor to the New Mexico Army National Guard.
