Biography

Jaye Calhoun is a member in the firm's New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX offices and leads the firm's state and local tax practice group while providing full service representation covering federal, state and local issues to meet the unique needs of each client. With over 23 years of experience practicing tax law, she has assisted clients with tax compliance and planning, offering guidance on the use of tax and business incentives, and representing clients in tax audits and controversies. She helps clients understand and comply with their tax obligations to avoid controversy, if possible, but also assists clients who find themselves embroiled in tax disputes. She has represented many clients in audits and administrative and judicial appeals before the IRS, the State of Louisiana Department of Revenue and local taxing authorities. She is certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization in both Taxation and in Estate Planning.

Jaye's business and individual clients are active in a broad range of industries including energy (traditional and renewable), communications, hospitality, manufacturing and sales, banking, consumer finance, entertainment, maritime, high technology, healthcare, insurance, nonprofits, and pharmaceuticals.

To stay abreast of issues of concern to clients and general taxpayers, Jaye remains active in national, state and local organizations. She is frequently called on to speak or write about a variety of tax topics of interest.
