Julie Johnson is Tennessee’s Deputy of Operations for long-term services and supports for the Bureau of TennCare. She has assisted in the implementation of an integrated managed long-term services and supports system for the elderly and adults with physical disabilities, expanding access to home and community based services and rapidly moving toward a rebalanced long-term care system in Tennessee. Ms. Johnson began her public service career working in TennCare’s Medical Appeals Division in 1999. She was asked to lead appeals for long term services and supports in 2010, with responsibilities for developing and directing statewide appeal related functions. In 2012 her role was broadened to also include oversight of all medical eligibility decisions, federal PASRR compliance, and enrollment into long term care programs. She also directs the division’s business analysis, process improvement and training activities.
