Ken Young specialized in labor and employment law, on the defense side, during his 30 year career and was certified as a Specialist in Employment and Labor Law by the South Carolina Supreme Court. He began his career with a national labor and employment firm, Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, and was most recently with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, a full service law firm with over 450 attorneys. At Nelson Mullins, Ken was head of the labor and employment group for 20 years. He was lead or co-counsel in over 25 published opinions at all levels, from state and federal district courts, the National Labor Relations Board, U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. Ken, a Fellow of the national College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, has been consistently recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Corporate Counsel Magazine named Ken to its list of the best labor and employment lawyers in America.
Long active in the American Bar Association, Ken served on the ABA’s Board of Governors and its Finance Committee. He has served continuously thereafter in the ABA’s House of Delegates in various capacities, including as an officer of the ABA's Labor & Employment Law Section (as the Section's management delegate to the House of Delegates). He has been elected to the House of Delegates five times by attorneys nationwide as a delegate-at-large. Ken has served as Chair of the Advisory Board for the ABA National Legal Resource for Child Advocacy and Protection in Washington, D.C., and is currently a member of the Law Practice Management Section Council. Ken has also served as a member of the South Carolina Bar Board of Governors.
