Biography

Dr. Michael Zanolli is a physician who resides in Nashville.  His family moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1955 where his father worked at the federal high security facilities and served as Medical Director of the Y-12 site for many years.  Educated in TN with a medical degree from UTCHS in Memphis where he did his residency training combining two years of Internal Medicine and three years of Dermatology.

Professional activities include fourteen years in academic medicine as a faculty member at Wake Forest University and Vanderbilt University, followed by hospital based practice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.  He is currently a member of the Heritage Medical Associates (HMA) and serves on the Board of Directors of HMA.

Dr. Zanolli was appointed by Governor Bredesen to the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners in 2004 with reappointment in 2009 and 2014.  The most recent reappointment was by Governor Haslam.  He has served as President of the TN BME since 2012.

In addition to State of TN activities, other professional leadership roles include: past Chair of the Nashville Academy of Medicine, previous member of the Board of Trustees of the TN Medical Association, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Federation of State Medical Boards.
