Faculty Profile: Stephen Spargo

Steve Spargo, who is a Partner in the Pittsburgh office of Compliance Concepts, Inc., has 22 years experience in the healthcare industry. Most recently he was the

Senior Vice President of Corporate Services for the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation (AHERF), a $3.5 billion healthcare system headquartered in Pittsburgh. In his capacity at AHERF, Steve was responsible for the consolidated finance, reimbursement and compliance functions, including the oversight and settlement of various governmental investigations, and was directly involved with numerous mergers and acquisitions. Prior to his tenure at AHERF, he was the CFO at Passavant Hospital, the Director of Finance at The Medical Center of Beaver County, and a healthcare consultant and senior accountant with

Coopers & Lybrand. He has extensive experience in virtually all areas of healthcare accounting and finance.

 

In his role at CCI, where he also serves as the President and CEO, Steve is responsible for overseeing all client engagements and for coordinating the delivery of all client services. He provides special reimbursement, billing and regulatory planning services and conducts various client and national seminars and training sessions. Steve also participates in the assessment of client compliance levels, the design and implementation of compliance programs, and the development and negotiation of structured settlement agreements with the HHS Office of Inspector General and Department of Justice.
