Faculty Profile: David Burkhalter II

David A. Burkhalter, II, is a civil trial attorney in private practice since 1976.  Mr. Burkhalter has extensive trial and appellate experience in both State and Federal courts.  His office is located in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Mr. Burkhalter has participated as lead attorney in numerous jury and non-jury trials that have resulted in his clients obtaining significant verdicts/settlements.  His clientele is limited to current and former employees, seriously injured parties, or their family members, and whistleblowers.  He specializes in serious personal injury cases, employment law cases, and False Claims Act (Whistleblower cases). 

Mr. Burkhalter earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee in 1976 where he graduated in the top three (3%) percent of his class. While in law school, he was a member of the Tennessee Law Review, and he was involved in numerous student and community organizations, as well as holding several jobs.

Mr. Burkhalter is certified in Tennessee as a Civil Trial Specialist.  Mr. Burkhalter is also certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and he is listed in Martindale-Hubbell as an AV peer rated, Preeminent Attorney-the highest rating possible.

Mr. Burkhalter has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America since 1993.  He is also listed in Best Lawyers in U.S. News and World Reports and in Super Lawyers. He was the 1995 recipient of the Tennessee Bar Association - Justice Joseph W.
