Jack Shelton is a co-founder of Aegis Space Law, a boutique law firm that focuses on the commercial space industry, with a particular emphasis on export controls, government and commercial contracting, issues surrounding foreign ownership and control, and licensing of launch vehicles and spacecraft. Aegis represents both domestic and international companies, from pre-seed to publicly traded, dealing in launch services, ground station services, on-orbit services, and more. Jack spends much of his time training clients and their employees in regulatory compliance and developing practical compliance programs, including those arising out of consent agreements and CFIUS national security agreements. Jack is also a co-founder of the Association of Commercial Space Professionals, a public benefit company whose mission is to democratize access to space by educating professionals and removing regulatory barriers to entry. Jack received his J.D. from the University of Tennessee and his LL.M. in Admiralty Law from Tulane University. He began his legal practice working in Germany, as in-house counsel for an ocean carrier. He has since lived and worked in Louisiana, Tennessee, D.C., New Mexico, and elsewhere.
