Biography

Dawn M. Maruna concentrates her practice on operational, regulatory, and corporate transactional and compliance matters, including contract review and negotiation and general corporate work, with an emphasis on privacy, security and vendor management issues. Dawn also counsels clients on global data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Healthcare Information Technology (especially Electronic Health Record Systems), and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (privacy of student education records). Before joining Baker Donelson, Dawn served as in-house technology and corporate counsel for a Southeastern bank of the U.S. Farm Credit System. As a transactional and litigation associate for two New York City-based law firms serving financial services and insurance clients, she routinely worked on matters related to manufacturing, construction, hospitality, energy and aviation industries. Prior to attending law school, Dawn worked as an information technology generalist and manager for the headquarters of an international technology publisher and a nationwide non-profit health advocacy organization.
