Faculty Profile: Ryan McCostlin

Ryan McCostlin leads Nashville-based Bernard Health's efforts to help individuals and families make better healthcare decisions through healthcare financial planning. At Bernard, McCostlin helped build a nationwide chain of healthcare retail stores where individuals and families sought unbiased health insurance advice from non-commissioned advisors. More recently, he's taken the expertise developed in Bernard's retail stores to help healthcare providers and financial advisors provide better health insurance guidance to patients and clients. He also serves as Bernard's CFO and Head of HR. As a result of this work, McCostlin is a contributor to Financial Advisor Magazine, Managed Healthcare Executive, Becker's Hospital Review, and ThinkAdvisor. McCostlin has also taught as an adjunct instructor of organizational development at Vanderbilt University, and he served on the advisory council for Get Covered Tennessee. Prior to Bernard, he worked at the Advisory Board Company and Huron Consulting in Washington, DC, where he helped hospitals improve revenue cycle operations. He has a BS from Vanderbilt and an MBA from Yale.
