Biography

I practice in the areas of personal injury litigation, maritime injury litigation, property damage and casualty loss litigation against insurance companies, represent individuals and small businesses in class action litigation, construction and business litigation, and I also handle general litigation matters on behalf of both individuals and small businesses. Most of my focus is on our business systems, marketing efforts, and ensuring as our firm grows, that our core values and mission statement are continually prioritized. Our goal is to ensure every client knows we will fight for the win on their case, no matter the size.

One case I began handling right out of law school shaped how I viewed the way litigation is handled in Louisiana state courts and opened my eyes to how insurance companies handle litigation and the people they are supposed to protect, their insureds. Steering that case through trial, and ultimately to settlement after a jury was selected, was a pivotal point in my understanding of litigation, litigation strategy, and what it means to fight for my clients. I am grateful for that family placing their trust in me, and sincerely am humbled with each client and family who places their faith in me and our firm.

That case, and every other case I have either successfully steered to verdict or settlement, has taught me invaluable lessons. One of the lessons I have consistently been reminded of in litigation is humility. Every win is inches away from a loss. The details, hard work, hours put into case preparation and review when no one is around, and attention to detail is what separates a win from a loss. If you put your trust in me, you can be assured I will pay attention to every detail of your case, and that you will be provided first-class legal services.

I have been able to argue appeals at various Louisiana Courts of Appeal and the Louisiana Supreme Court, as well as the Federal United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal in business litigation, personal injury, multidistrict litigation, and property casualty claims. I also was named as class counsel in multiple consumer-based class actions and have been involved in numerous multi-district litigation class actions in Louisiana, including the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, In re: Xarelto, In re: Taxotere, and Chinese Drywall. I serve on the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Professionalism Committee and have regularly given seminars and continuing education presentations to attorneys and real estate professionals.

I have been a supporter and advocate for Volunteers of America since graduating from law school. VOA provides an amazing variety of services to the Southern Louisiana community. Their dedication to our military veterans, providing services to those with substance abuse problems, dedication to providing affordable and safe housing, development of workforce re-entry programs for those who are incarcerated, and adoption services (which are only a fraction of the services they provide Southern Louisiana) are making a positive impact on many lives every day. I am honored to serve on their Board of Directors and be a small part of that effort. I serve as an advisory board member of the Colonel Athletic Association, the chief fundraising arm for Nicholls State University Athletics, and am a proud supporter of my alma mater, Nicholls State University.

I obtained my B.A. in Business Administration, cum laude, from Nicholls State University in 2007; and my Juris Doctor in May 2011 from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law. At Loyola, I was a member of the Loyola Moot Court, where I was selected as an oralist on the Cultural Heritage Moot Court team which placed 1st at DePaul University’s National Cultural Heritage Moot Court competition. I was also selected as an oralist on Loyola’s National Moot Court team. I was inducted into the Order of the Barristers and received the Law Excellence Award for the highest grade in Constitutional Law, Advanced Constitutional Law, and Products Liability.

I am thankful to my parents for teaching me what dedication, consistency, and hard work mean – both in their words and in their example. When I am not at the office or in Court, I am likely spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, or trying to figure out how to convince my godchildren that I am funny, despite them reaching the age of thinking I am ridiculous and very not funny.
