Faculty Profile: Constance Brown

Constance K. Brown was born and raised in the Mississippi Delta and is currently an Anti-Blight Prosecutor for the City of Memphis. She is a member of the Memphis Bar Association, National Bar Association, and the Association for Women Attorneys. This is her fourth term as Chair of the Memphis Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee and she currently serves on the Tennessee Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and as President of Community Legal Center’s Board of Directors. She also served for two consecutive terms on the Memphis Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Division’s Board of Directors–ex officio (2021-2023).

Constance was a recipient of the MBA’s 2023 & 2021 Champion of Justice: Public Interest Attorney award. Constance was recently recognized by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a 2024 and 2025 Attorney for Justice as a result of her pro bono service. In November of 2024, The Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association presented her with the AA LAtting Community Service Award. This award is conferred upon an attorney who goes above and beyond to give back to the community and improve the lives of others. Also in 2024, she was awarded the Community Partner Award for her pro bono efforts by the Sigma Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc. In November of 2025, she was recognized out of over 13,000 employees by the City of Memphis and awarded an Ovation Award for her outstanding community service throughout the City.

Additionally, through her current role of Chair of the Memphis Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee, Constance has founded a community legal clinic at the Levi Library, has forged numerous collaborative relationships to support the underserved population in the Memphis community, establish and maintain partnerships with various law firms and academic institutions, secure sponsorships and grant funding to support pro Bono legal clinics, develop recruitment strategies to obtain and maintain participation and support from the private bar, and create, support, present and submit courses for CLE credit to ensure that attorneys have access to training covering various practice areas.

She received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Mississippi and her Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law. During her law school career Constance was awarded the John B. Farese Memorial Trial Advocate Award by way of nomination for exhibiting superior trial advocacy skills. She also served on the R. Jess Brown Moot Court Board. In 2019, Constance earned her MBA from Belhaven University with a concentration in leadership– where she developed a passion for community wealth and entrepreneurship.
