Biography

Rodney T. Cohen is currently serving as the director of corporate and foundation relations (since 2018) at Meharry Medical College in Nashville TN. He has over 20 years of experience in higher education with positions in fund raising, visiting professor and academic dean. Some of his previous posts include positions at the University of Notre Dame, Yale University, University of Texas Medical and Fisk University. Cohen is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University (GA) where he received his BS degree and a graduate of Western Kentucky and Vanderbilt where he received his masters and doctorate respectively. While at Vanderbilt, he conducted an abroad study program in Gothic Architecture at Cambridge University (England). Cohen has parlayed his research interest in higher education to produce a number of published works in academic journals, book chapters and two (2) books on the histories of historically black colleges with Arcadia Press. He has served on a number of volunteer boards including the Urban League of Southern Connecticut and CT Teach for America. Currently, he serves as the Nashboro District Chair for the Boy Scouts of Middle Tennessee. In addition, he has participated in a number significant leadership seminars and programs, including Leadership Laurens County in South Carolina, the Education Leadership Program for the US Army at Fort Knox KY and the Leadership Institute at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.
