Biography

Celeste Bishop Stein, MSJ, PhD is the Director of External Affairs in the School of Dentistry at Meharry Medical College located in Nashville, Tennessee.  She rejoins the Dean’s office in the School of Dentistry after previously working as Executive Associate to the Dean and Marketing Liaison between 2017-2018.

 

Dr. Stein has worked as a news anchor and reporter in television and radio for more than a decade in Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, Lynchburg, VA, and Nashville, TN.  She also has taught communications classes at Belmont University, Tennessee State University, Lipscomb, Western Kentucky University and the University of Phoenix for more than 10 years.

 

In addition, Dr. Stein served her community as the Manager of Public Affairs for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, supervising day to day operations, crisis communication and strategic planning and implementation.  She is an expert in new media technologies and has received numerous awards for some of the corporate branding and identity campaigns she’s worked on for clients over the years as the founder of Bishop, Stein & Associates P.R., Inc., a Nashville based public relations firm. She also a published author with research conducted on parental attachment theory and the Future of the Newsroom in the Age of New Media. 

 

Dr. Stein currently serves on the national Board of Directors of Play Like a Girl, which focuses on getting young girls interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) projects and the Arts.  She also hosts a news based radio program on iHeart Radio, which is replayed on Apple podcasts.

 

Dr. Stein is a graduate of Spelman College, in Atlanta, GA where she double majored in Economics and Mass Communications (Clark College).  She has a Master of Science Degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.  She completed her doctorate in  Strategic Communication from Regent University in December of 2019.  As part of her graduate studies program, she studied the work of C.S. Lewis at Oxford University in the UK.  She is also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
