Biography

Rachel C Welty is a licensed attorney in Nashville, TN specializing in a child advocacy centered approach to family law. She was licensed to practice law in Tennessee in 2007 and she opened up her own law firm in the Fall of 2009. Ms. Welty focuses her practice on all aspects of family law including divorce, child custody, adoptions, child support, dependency/neglect cases, grandparent visitation, Guardian Ad Litem work, orders of protection & appeals. Additionally, Ms. Welty works in juvenile court representing parents who have DCS involvement. She has worked with hundreds of children over her ten + years of working in Davidson County Juvenile Court - many of those teens and teen parents - and is familiar with many of the unique circumstances that come with working with & having children as clients. Ms. Welty is an Ohio native who moved to the Middle Tennessee area in 2007.  Her husband Todd is a Major in the U.S. Army, and they have three children: Clayton - 6, Eloise - 3 and Emmett - 2.   Ms. Welty runs two different service projects. One takes gently used baby carriers and gets them in the hands of caregivers in need to help promote attachment between caregivers and young children which can be used as a positive tool in reducing the likelihood of dependency and neglect occurring. Ms. Welty also runs the Davidson County Juvenile Court 2-4-2 book program which provides duplicate books to the Court to provide children who have been removed from their parents a unique opportunity for contact outside of the typical supervised visitation setting. Ms. Welty currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the non-profit Epic Girl, which empowers girls to reach their full potential through educational programs, mentoring, counseling & community activities.
