Biography

Emily Stone is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 20 years of experience working with adults, couples, families, children, and adolescents. Her reputation as a therapist, supervisor, and professor is one of being open, courageous in dialogue, curious, and respectful of each individual.

She started her work as a therapist in California where she received her Master of Arts in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling after first finishing a Master of Divinity. After some time living abroad she did her PhD in Child and Family Studies at the University of Tennessee. She has extensive experience through practice, training, and research in the areas of life transitions, couples work, sexuality, spirituality (including spiritual formation, spiritual deconstruction, spiritual disillusionment, and spiritual trauma), depression, anxiety, anger, infidelity, trauma, parenting, ADHD, grief, issues of diversity, sports psychology, nutrition-informed therapy, and LGBTQIA-related issues. She also has a special love for working with therapists and pastors as clients because healers need healing spaces, too.

Emily has taught college and graduate school in the areas of psychology and counseling for almost 20 years and is currently on faculty for the Psychology Department at Keiser University and for the QTAP Certification Training for Queer and Trans-Affirming Practitioners. She is a certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator and trained to become a certified ADHD Professional. Emily enjoys working with individuals and couples from the LGBTQ+ community.

In her spare time, Emily can be found running or doing Pilates, cheering for one of her kids at a ball game or concert, taking in a live music event with her partner, or snuggling up with her favorite tea and book (often alongside of her very doodly Goldendoodle, Comet).

"The healing space that is generated between therapist and client...it is one of the greatest honors of my life. It never ceases to amaze me."

Emily serves clients living in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
