Biography

Professor Teri Dobbins Baxter earned her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate degrees from Duke University. After graduation from law school, she practiced for five years in the litigation and appellate sections in the Houston office of Locke Liddell & Sapp LLP (now Locke Lord LLP) before joining the faculty at Saint Louis University School of Law in 2002. In 2013 Professor Baxter joined the University of Tennessee College of Law, where she teaches Constitutional Law, Constitutional Rights and Liberties, Torts, Secured Transactions, and a Family and Privacy seminar. She has also served as the Associate Dean for Faculty Development and the Acting Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. Her scholarship focuses on the intersection between the rights of individuals and families and the government’s obligation to protect its citizens.
