Biography

Mary Walker is a 1979 graduate from the University of Tennessee College of Law, and she is a retired lawyer and social worker. Mary retired in 2015 after working as the Vice President of Programs for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.  Prior to her time at the organization, Mary practiced law for 25 years and served as General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee, and Senior Referee for the Davidson County Juvenile Court.  She was named the winner of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Margaret Harris Slack Professional Excellence Award and the U.T. School of Social Work Senator Douglas Henry Award for Service to at-risk families.
