Amber Payne is a second-year Law Fellow in Vanderbilt University’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC). Amber’s practice consists of a wide array of legal realms including contracts, procurement, intellectual property, personal injury litigation, and financial and investment transactions. As a Vanderbilt alumna, her unique experience has been instrumental in developing sound policies, fostering partnerships, and advancing the university's mission.
Amber received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Studies and Spanish from Vanderbilt University. She then received her Juris Doctor from Belmont University where she served as a Teacher’s Assistant, President of the Black Law Student’s Association, and a Student Ambassador. Additionally, during her legal education, she was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Torts and Juvenile Law as well as the Dr. Fannie Hewlett Award.
Prior to joining the OGC, Amber interned with the Nashville Predators where she developed an interest in the intersection of law and complex organizations. She also worked at the Tennessee Office of the Attorney General’s Education and Employment Division where she supported several attorneys in civil litigation and contractual matters.
Amber is admitted to practice law in Tennessee. Currently, she serves as the Historian of the Napier Looby Bar Association. Amber is also fluent in Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen or taking dance lessons.
