Biography

Karen Jackson, Sr. Director of the Animal Care and Use Program (ACUP) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC)

Karen has 32 years of laboratory animal sciences experience, with expertise in animal facility building and design, facility management, and finances. She earned a B.S. in Animal Science from Michigan State University and an M.P.A. in Public Administration – Finance from New York University. Karen has held various positions in New York City, including Operations Manager at New York University Medical School and Weill Medical School of Cornell and Assistant Director at Downstate Medical Center at the State University of New York. She has spent the last 20 years of her professional career at VUMC motivated by the importance of creating and maintaining animal facilities that enable advancements in biomedical research while leading and growing individuals within the organization.
