Nick BeresNews Channel 5
Biography

After working his way in TV news from Medford, Oregon to Washinton, D.C. to Los Angeles, California -- he's now been at NewsChannel 5 since 1995. It's been quite a journey and after moving seemingly every two years ... he finally settled in middle Tennessee.

So, Nick's been here a while ... making lots of contacts ... and even more friends. He's seen the news business change from manual typewriters and payphones to computers and cellphones.

GEEEZ ... he feels old.

But, with age comes experience. It helps to have an institutional knowledge of big stories he's covered over the past two decades plus. Big criminal cases -- recognized any of these names: Perry March, Bruce Mendenhall, the Wooded Rapist, the Vanderbilt rape case, Mary Winkler, Travis Reinking, Radonda Vaught. Big weather stories: Tornados, floods and more. Interesting everyday stories from the infamous marijuana drug cave to hunting for morel mushrooms.

Nick's reported.

He's anchored.

He's evolved.

Now you'll find him early each day at the 5 Alert Desk with breaking and exclusive stories on NewsChannel 5 this Morning. Then he'll host the hour-long news and public affairs show MorningLine on NewsChannel 5+. And after that -- he'll turn enterprise stories for the evening news.

The switch does NOT turn off when he leaves the newsroom. Nick's Facebook page at Nick Beres NC5 is one of the top media pages in the country with more than 200-thousand followers. He's engaged almost 24-7. There, Nick posts many exclusive stories first ... and where he loves to interact with viewers and followers. You can message him stories there day and night.

Nick is a graduate of the University of Oregon ... and earned his Masters from Northwestern University. He now lives in Lebanon, Tennessee with his wife Deb ... their five dog rescues: Beaglejuice, Bette Davis, Jackpot, Dewey and Biggie Smalls ... his two backyard chickens Thelma and Louise ... and one beehive. The bees aren't really pets, but they do make great honey.
