
Nathan Fagre is law firm partner and an experienced chief legal officer with broad public and private company experience. His career includes 25 years of serving as the chief legal officer and corporate secretary at various companies, with broad industry experience across the life sciences, branded consumer products, energy, media, and e-commerce sectors. Mr. Fagre is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University; a founding partner at Ekberg, Fagre & Seem LLP, a boutique corporate law firm; and is serving on the boards of directors of several companies and non-profit entities.
Mr. Fagre’s areas of expertise include: public and private capital raising transactions; corporate governance and regulatory compliance; U.S. securities laws: mergers, acquisitions and dispositions; commercial negotiations; and international business transactions. He has managed in-house legal departments ranging from global departments with offices in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, to small departments supporting startups in the United States and the United Kingdom.
His chief legal officer experience includes: SVP and General Counsel at Spectrum Brands Holdings, a global consumer products company and a Fortune 500 company during his tenure; SVP and General Counsel of ValueVision Media (ShopNBC), an e-commerce and live media retailer backed by NBC and GE Capital; SVP and General Counsel of Occidental Oil and Gas Corporation, the global energy division of Occidental Petroleum Corp.; General Counsel of Faraday Grid Ltd., a U.K. technology startup in the electrical grid sector; and EVP and General Counsel of Entrinsic Bioscience, a life-sciences startup in consumer health and wellness.
Mr. Fagre has extensive board experience including currently serving as an independent director of Home Medical Equipment Specialists, LLC, a medical equipment distributor, and as a director and Chair of the Governance Committee of the Association of Marshall Scholars, a national educational non-profit organization. Previously, his service included board member and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Electronic Retailing Association, a national industry association; board member and Chair of the Governance Committee of the Clean Lakes Alliance; board member of Ralph Lauren Media, LLC, an e-commerce company; and board member of Vanyonganneft LLC, a joint venture between a Russian and a U.S. energy company.
He is a graduate of Harvard Law School (magna cum laude) and Harvard College (summa cum laude) and also earned an M.Phil. degree at Oxford University where he was a Marshall Scholar. Mr. Fagre has mentored many in-house lawyers and has been a frequent speaker on corporate governance issues at legal conferences.
