Since 2002, he has served as a Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor for the great State of Tennessee after spending twenty years as an Assistant District Attorney, Assistant Public Defender, private practitioner and City Judge.
As a Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor he has organized and conducted training seminars concerning DUI and traffic safety issues. In fiscal year 2014-15 Tom and fellow TSRP, Jim Camp provided training to 1,787 law enforcement officers and 280 prosecutors. Tom has also spoken to various community groups, Judicial Commissioners, the Vanderbilt Life flight Conference and testified on numerous occasions for the Tennessee General Assembly.
Tom acts as a resource to all prosecutors in Tennessee. He publishes the quarterly DUI News and has written and distributed a DUI Trial manual for prosecutors. He maintains a blog for traffic safety professionals at http/tnduiguy@blogspot.com as well as a website at http://dui.tndagc.org
Tom was honored to receive the Kevin Quinlan Award from the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility on Capitol Hill in 2014.
