Biography

 
Bill Lockett graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1976 with a B.A. in History and Political Science.  In 1982, he graduated from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where he was on the Cumberland Law Review, Executive Board of the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board, President of the Tennessee Student Bar Association, and selected for membership in the Order of Barristers.  After graduating from Cumberland, Mr. Lockett served as law clerk for the Honorable Ray L. Brock, Jr., Associate Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court.  When his clerkship ended, Mr. Lockett returned to Knoxville and began the practice of law with Heiskell, Donelson.  In 1987 he joined Kennerly, Montgomery & Finley, P.C., where he practiced until his election as Knox County Law Director in 2008.  Mr. Lockett currently is in private practice as a trial lawyer.
