Jury Selection

Description: The program focuses on Effective Voir: The Changing role of Voir Dire, increased juror concerns. The risks of inadequate juror interactive education, and the constitutional imperative. With the lack of educational focus on civics and communication and learning, the old methods of juror education and instructions are increasingly ineffective. Judge and trial attorneys need to be alert to juror issues which in the past either did not exist (computer usage, blogs, Facebook) or which posed less risks (attempts to personally profit from or exploit the juror experience in the past). The approach to voir can be part of avoiding those and other potential juror problems. The panel will discuss how they each use voir as they address these issues.
