Intellectual property plays an integral role in the area of law defined as "fashion law." What many may not know is that "fashion law" serves to regulate a $1.2 trillion global industry, with more than $250 billion spent annually on fashion in the United States. This session will highlight the multi-disciplinary nature of the fashion industry which includes not only intellectual property but also legal concepts in criminal law, labor law, Estate Law, and more. As a bonus, Grady Garrison of Baker Donelson's Memphis office will share his expertise regarding a leading "fashion law" case that defines copyright protection in the fashion arena. Exciting news is that it is straight out of the future fashion capital of Tennessee: Varsity Brands, Inc. v. Star Athletica, LLC, 799 F.3d 468

I enjoyed the discussion of the cheerleading uniforms and wedding dress. I would have liked more substantive discussion of the counterfeit purses/shoes.
The discussion on counterfeit fashion was very insightful.
This was good. I wonder if there is a way to update it now that case law with the Supreme Court has ruled in the Varsity case.
