Mindfulness in the Practice of Law

Description:

Mindfulness...the seemingly simple act of paying to attention to the present moment... is increasing in popularity among lawyers. It is said to offer insight and tools to reclaim focus in the midst of challenging situations, and regular practitioners of mindfulness meditation claim to be calmer, more compassionate, more focused and more “present” for their clients, their colleagues and their families. So is mindfulness simply a new-age fad or a scientifically backed strategy for combating stress and achieving greater wellbeing in (and outside of) the practice of law? Join us for this webinar as we answer the questions: What is mindfulness? What are its benefits? And how are lawyers and law schools across the country using mindfulness to enhance decision-making skills and promote greater overall satisfaction with the practice of law.

Interesting ideas on mindfulness and some good tips.

I'm glad that Ms. Reed incorporated videos into the presentation. The Dan Harris content was helpful. I also enjoyed the breathing exercise. I am going to look up the body scan activity that she suggested.

This was a fun and informative CLE.

Interesting and different topic. I particularly enjoyed the first video on the reporter.

It reinforced my knowledge that mindfullness is a good tool and I ought to parctice it more often.

Excellent and succinct summary of the need for lawyers to develop mindful skills, and list of some of the options readily available for us.

Excellent presentation and presenter.

Great reminder to breathe and relax while practicing law.

It is great to see the legal community keeping in step with the scientific community,

The real-life examples were particularly helpful, as were the mindfulness exercises. I will try to work this into my day.

Very good hour on something that I should start practicing more often.

I learned how to effectively manage my stress as a lawyer better.

Good references for other books to read, etc. A less childish breathing video would've been better, I think.

Great CLE, and a refreshing perspective on managing lawyer stress.

Really enjoyed this and needed to hear this. Ordered 10% Happier after I finished this.

Remarkably simple stuff; just hard to actually start doing it! Thank you.

Stress management is often overlooked but very important.

Very interesting concepts. I had heard a lot about mindfulness, and I was very pleased to see a CLE on the topic.

This was a fantastic CLE - it was really so much more than just a CLE class. Ms. Reed's presentation is right on point and she does/did a fabulous job getting her message across. The is the type of CLE that should be mandatory for ALL new & young lawyers. 10 out of 10.

Great job, Candice! Loved the integration into the actual daily practice of being a lawyer.

I plan to print out certain of the slides; much of the presentation was very helpful and will require more time to absorb more fully.

I imagine we all know what the presenter said is true, but it is another thing to focus on it. Good presentation.

Candice is always such a great presenter. This is also such a good topic for lawyers.

Very timely and helpful.
