Artificial intelligence is quickly becoming part of everyday legal practice — but knowing where to start, and how to use it responsibly, can be challenging. New for 2026, the TCAIL Primer is designed for attorneys who are new to AI, have experimented with it but want a stronger foundation, or simply want practical guidance for incorporating AI tools into their work.

Held on Thursday, Dec. 10, the afternoon before the 3rd Annual TBA Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the Law (TCAIL), this half-day CLE will focus on the practical and ethical use of AI in legal practice. Attendees will learn how to get started with AI responsibly, explore ways AI can support the business and administrative side of a law practice, and examine applications for core legal work such as research, writing, drafting, contract review and cite checking.

The program will conclude with a networking happy hour, giving attendees an opportunity to continue the conversation with fellow lawyers and speakers.

Please note: The TCAIL Primer is a separate CLE program with separate registration from the 3rd Annual TBA Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the Law on Dec. 11. Attorneys may register for the TCAIL Primer, TCAIL or both programs.

Build a foundation for using AI in legal practice, with an emphasis on the ethical considerations attorneys should understand as they begin incorporating AI tools into their work.

2:15–3:15 p.m.
How Can I Use AI to Manage and Grow My Practice?
Explore practical ways AI can support the business side of practicing law, including administrative tasks, business development, time entry, finding and vetting vendors, and other practice-management functions.

3:30–4:30 p.m.
Putting AI to Work in Your Legal Practice
Explore how AI can assist with core legal tasks, including legal research, brief writing, drafting legal documents, contract review and cite checking.

4:30–5:30 p.m.
Networking Happy Hour

Speakers, session details and CLE credit information will be announced as the program is finalized.
