Skills for New Lawyers: Understanding Firm Structures and Economics

Description:

In this session you will hear from seasoned lawyers about business development tips for new lawyers. Attorney Emily Taube will discuss law firm business structure, management, and costs. Some topics discussed include the basic internal employee structure of law firms, business association structure, and compensation structure of most law firms.

TBA Mentoring Program: The TBA Mentoring Program is designed to foster mutually beneficial relationships between the participating attorneys, reduce the isolation experienced by some beginning attorneys, improve the quality of legal services received by clients, place renewed emphasis on the importance of professionalism, and generally benefit the legal profession as a whole. If you would like to take part as a mentor or mentee, you can learn more or apply here.

I probably don't quite qualify as a "new lawyer" anymore, so many of the concepts were familiar, but it was a good refresher and gave some new insights into what firms with structures different than those I've been at are doing.

Excellent presenter, informative presentation!
