Elder Law

Elder Law Forum 2023: Navigating Medicaid and Tax Laws

Description:

Elder Law attorneys excel in Medicaid regulations but may not have extensive tax law knowledge. Consequently, adhering to IRS guidelines regarding real estate gifting and trust transfers can lead to unforeseen repercussions for individuals seeking longterm care and Medicaid assistance. To ensure a smooth process, clients should seek advice from tax professionals and elder law attorneys before proceeding with any gifts or asset transfers.

Great material.

Very helpful seminar and good presentation.

The speaker was very knowledgeable. Capital gains taxes, carry-over basis, and step-up in basis was easy to follow. Would love additional examples, but otherwise very good for the limited time speaker was given.

Excellent primer on important interplay of Medicaid planning and gift & estate tax planning. (Please -- especially here where questions and answers were numerous-- consider arrangements whereby questioners are given/required to also use a microphone.)
