Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. There are five pillars to a strong EQ — self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills — that when combined can lead to a healthier professional and personal life.
In this video, Mental Health Clinician with the Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program Lindsey O'Connell will discuss ways to how to build your personal EQ.
This webcast will begin with a discussion of the benefits of incorporating legal technology into attorneys’ arguments and an explanation of the efficient development and appropriate use of demonstratives. It will also share tips and tricks for creating persuasive visual aids and choosing the right technology necessary to present arguments while being budget-minded.
Also covered is instruction on how the technology works and a review of trial presentation software packages (such as iPad, OnCue and TrialDirector) as well as a tutorial of their functionality. Finally, we will explain how these technologies translate from the courtroom setting to a remote web-conference platform and share field-based observations and “how-to” recommendations to strengthen security, avoid some known technical issues, and have a successful and persuasive virtual argument.
