Faculty Profile: Emily Pavuluri

Emily Pavuluri is the Associate Director of the Vanderbilt AI Law Lab (VAILL) and a Lecturer in Law at Vanderbilt Law School, where she designs and teaches practical AI courses for law students. Her work focuses on what actually changes in a lawyer’s day once these tools are in the workflow: how to structure legal research on AI-assisted platforms, where drafting and contract review tools hold up under real-matter conditions, and what verification each stage still requires of the lawyer. She evaluates legal technology for VAILL, builds the lab’s conference and workshop programming, and works with industry partners to help legal teams implement AI strategies safely and effectively. Before joining Vanderbilt, she was a research and training librarian at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, and earlier worked at the Law Library of Congress and the Supreme Court of the United States Library. She holds a J.D. cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law, an M.S. in Information Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a B.A. from Emory University.
