Client Communication: Interpreter Services in ALL Court Hearings

Description: Interpreter services in all court hearings (both civil and criminal) can now be billed directly to the Administrative Office of the Courts pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 42 in the State of Tennessee as amended July 1, 2012. This session will discuss the new funding now available to assist all Limited English Proficiency Individuals with interpreter services regardless of indigency of the parties and the process for obtaining those services. Some of the topics include: - Title VI and meaningful access to the court system for LEP (Limited English Proficient) individuals - How court interpreters are credentialed (qualified for interpreting in court) - How an interpreter is obtained for court hearings - Process for direct invoicing and payment of interpreters' services by AOC
