Estate Planning & Probate

Estate Planning Advanced: Ethics Bowl

Description:

In this program, a panel of estate planning attorneys will be given a multiple-choice test of hypothetical ethical situations. Their answers will be compared to answers given by Laura Chastain from the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility. Topics include: questions concerning independent professional judgment, competency, multi-family representation, duties of prospective clients, and transmission of information over the internet.

Q and A format with a panel is a good method of presenting material. Unlike most ethics presentations, the tone was constructive rather than punitive.

Very nice information.

I learned that Tennessee has not yet addressed the issue of accepting bitcoin as payment for services rendered. But that the general consensus is that, if you're willing to accept it, there is no rule against it.

I learned that generally speaking attorneys do not need to send all encrypted emails. That there is a rule on Prospective Clients and our duties to send clients. Also I gained additional ideas of what to put in retainer letters.
