Immigration Law

Immigration Law 2020: EOIR - Gang of 35/Denial of Amicus

Description:

The Roundtable of Retired Immigration Judges and BIA Members (sometimes called “the Gang of 35”) has filed amicus briefs in no less than 37 cases before the BIA, the Circuit Courts, and the Supreme Court. These cases involve a variety of topics, including post-Pereira litigation, definition of Particular Social Group, and bond issue. Each amicus brief stresses the experience and expertise of the judges and former Board members. In this program, I will talk about a number of Roundtable successes, some failures to convince the appellate courts, and ask for any cases the attendees might know about which could benefit from Roundtable participation.
