During the session, we will define what we mean by “artificial intelligence” in the legal realm, look briefly at how lawyers are using AI in everyday practice, then focus on what ethical duties are implicated through the use of AI and how attorneys’ actions are being accounted for under the Rules of Professional Conduct. We will also consider some court and ethics opinions from various states who have addressed AI issues.

I learned about the difference between generative AI and the common forms of AI that the legal profession has been using for years. I found the billing aspects associated with AI and what certain law firms have done very interesting.
