This session will strive to prove informative “Top 10 lists” can happen in the morning (rather than only on late-night tv in the early 2000’s). It will discuss the “Top 10” most perilous issues facing public employers in the HR realm. Not to spoil the list – a few teasers are: Religious accommodation (after the U.S. Supreme Court raised the standard both public and private employers must use in order to consider a religious accommodation request); Pregnancy accommodation (in light of the two new federal laws relating to this topic which were passed near the end of the Biden Administration); and What To Do with your DEI Programs under the Trump
Administration. We will strive for a politically neutral, factual discussion – to the extent a forum involving local government attorneys (or any attorneys!) is capable of achieving this end. Politically neutral, factual questions thus will be welcome!
