The Legal Process: The Quest for a Free Standing 24/7 Emergency Department

On June 13, 2019, after 59 years, the Jamestown Regional Medical Center closed – never to reopen. Explore WHY the choice was made to advocate strongly to establish a Free-Standing Emergency Department (FSED). Learn HOW the strategy of creating a QUEST united a groundswell of individuals, groups, organizations, local leaders and the media in support. All Joined the Quest. Study the Petition (for redress) signed by thousands, Resolution of the County Commission, Articles published that kept the fire burning and more. Enjoy the breakthrough when Fentress County partnered with the University of Tennessee Knoxville Medical Center to bring the FSED to Jamestown, the anticipation and finally its opening in July 2023. Consider the method used as an exercise in Democracy where people lend their voices to govern.
